Founder & Owner

Terrence D. Hunter is a native of Natchez, Mississippi, and the owner and founder of The Hunter Law Firm, PLLC. After graduating from Trinity Episcopal Day School, Terrence attended Tougaloo College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in May 2017. Terrence then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in May 2020.

While in law school, Terrence was an active member of several organizations including the Black Law Students Association, the Public Interest Law Foundation, and the Negotiation Board. Terrence also worked as a student advocate in the Roderick and Solange MacArthur Justice Center where he was responsible for assisting licensed attorneys representing individuals unable to retain adequate legal counsel in Mississippi.

While in law school, Terrence also had the distinct privilege of interning for the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund in New York, New York, the nation's premier legal organization fighting for justice. As an intern, Terrence assisted some of the nation's sharpest legal minds as they strategized on ways to help small southern communities resist the ills of harmful and sometimes illegal laws and policies. Throughout his law school tenure, Terrence became familiar with complex legal issues that impact the health and safety of communities across Mississippi and neighboring states.

Upon graduation from law school, Terrence undertook a one-year fellowship as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Mississippi. He continued addressing legal and policy issues affecting communities in Mississippi, specifically the Mississippi Delta region. Terrence worked with several local community members in various counties to bring attention to issues concerning broadband ("internet") expansion, food insecurity, infant mortality, and criminal justice.

After completing his fellowship with the University of Mississippi, Terrence passed the Mississippi and Tennessee bar exams in 2021 and was admitted to practice in both States and the Federal Courts in Mississippi.

Terrence began his legal career with a notable personal injury firm in Northeast Mississippi in July 2021. While there, he successfully negotiated settlements on behalf of his clients and was a part of a winning trial team that obtained a six-figure jury verdict against a large corporation for his client. Terrence has the skills, passion, and drive to go the distance for every client.
